I have found myself at a loss what to write on this blog recently. There are so many wondeful blogs out there sharing general journaling ideas or gorgeous art journal pages and I felt my little space was redundant and considered giving it up. But something is keeping me going and so I thought I would share a couple of things.
Above is my current journal that is rapidly being filled with thoughts and ideas. I use it as both a normal journal and an art journal and find that works perfectly for me.
As well as The Awe-Manac I have been reading 'Simple Abundance: A Daybook of Comfort and Joy' which has (as you can see below) prompted many scribbles in my journal of things to think about and focus on!
So to end I just want to say I hope all are well! If you have any journaling news, links, blogs etc to share please leave them in the comments! It is nice sharing again.
...but Mr Light is using my leg as a mousemat! We are spending the weekend visiting my mum and are squished on the sofa watching a film. My poor mum is going through some tough times and I often feel helpless so this is one of those times my journal is invaluable. If I can get my leg back :)
How are you? I hope your weekend is going magnificently!
Hello! Here in Cambridge the sun is shining and it looks a glorious (if freezing) day! In this Sunny Sunday update I want to give a quick update on The Awe-Manac Project and also the result of my Blog Party giveaway!
I haven't managed to be online much for two reasons. Firstly school restarted and I have a student teacher with me this term so I have been helping him out and making sure everything is perfect in my own planning etc. Secondly my dear Mum stayed with us for the past few weeks and it is very hard to journal, come online etc whilst she is here especially as I want to keep Journal Journeys my own private thing for the moment. But she went home yesterday so it is catch up time! I am planning a lovely and relaxing journaling session this evening and some online time to visit and catch up on some blogs. If you have anything in particular you would like me to read please leave me a comment!
My goal this year was to achieve BALANCE and I am a little annoyed with myself that the first week back I didn't manage to achieve it much. So this week I am going to try hard to have more me time! Did you set any goals or resolutions this year? How are you doing with it?
The Awe-Manac Project
I know a few of you were going to try and work through The Awe-Manac and join in on my project. I hope if you have that you have found it enjoyable! I have been mixing it up with my normal journaling so at the moment I have nothing to share and post but I will aim to do some stand alone work that can be shared on here. Has anyone else got some pages to share? You could post a link to your pages if you wanted to or email me and I will put some up on the blog!
Giveaway
The result is in! The winner of the Paperchase journal is...
Congratulations Sherry!
I will try and contact you through your blog or if you read this could you email me at journal.journeys {at} gmail.com with your address and I will get the journal in the post to you!
The past few weeks we have had my mum visiting and staying with us and so it has been difficult to get any decent computer time. I plan to make a post in the next day or so to let you all know the giveaway winner (so excited!) and discuss some journaling goodness:)
Hope you are all as awesome as ever, miss you lots!
Hello and welcome to Journal Journeys! This little Blog Party was organised by Altered Orchid after we had a Twitter chat about celebrating having some time off! It is an opportunity to celebrate this lovely time of year! For my little part of the blog party I wanted to have a little fun! There is a message from me, a message from a special guest blogger and a giveaway right at the end of this post!
Firstly a little message.
Secondly a friend of mine wanted to share with you his shopping adventures today so that on this Christmas Eve you can be thankful that your shopping is done and you can spend time relaxing!
The Adventures of Mr Gingerbread
Hello my name is Mr Gingerbread and I wanted to share with you my day. Unfortunately due to the snow I had left my Christmas shopping a little late. So on this cold and wintery Christmas Eve I went to the city of Cambridge. Deciding that I couldn't face the car parks I went to the Park and Ride and waited for the bus.
Whilst on the bus I got comfortable and checked my Twitter feed.
Cambridge was busy but everyone was very jolly! We stopped off some hot chocolate to revive us a little.
I went journal shopping. Well you can never have enough journals!
I finally got round to shopping for others and then realised I had forgotten to check the DVD I was supposed to get for my friend Ms Light so I rang her from a telephone box. (My mobile battery had gone because I had checked Twitter so much.)
Shopping done, legs aching and hungry I got the bus back and finally made it home. I spent some time enjoying the snow in the garden, contemplating all the wonderful people who are special to me and thanking Ms Light, Altered Orchid and all the other blog party people for allowing me this opportunity to share my day with them.
Now finally I would like to leave you all with a chance to win one of the journals Mr Gingerbread saw on his shopping trip today. So if you would like to enter this giveaway leave a comment in the comments section and next week Mr Gingerbread (and the randon picker internet thingy ;) )will pick a lucky winner!
If you haven't been to see the others in the Blog Party yet then never fear! Here are the links you need to take you on a journey of holiday celebration!
Just a quick note to say thanks for comments, tweets and emails! I am at my dear mums to pick her up ready to come to ours at Christmas so I haven't got access to the 'proper' Internet:) I will be back tomorrow with the first journal book taster!
Inspired my earlier Teaser Tuesday post I sat thinking about all the wonderful gems I could tease you with from my journal focused books. Whilst reading journal orientated books I often have my journal sat next to me and I simply jot down quotes and thoughts as I am reading. So I thought over the next few weeks I would spend the odd post sharing some of these quotes that can help you on your journal journey.
First quote will come tomorrow!
Do you have any favourite quotes that you would like to share?
Literary Escapism is holding a New Author Challenge for 2011 and this seemed a great way to get myself away from reading books by the same old authors.
"The idea behind this is to find new authors that you’ve never tried before. They can be in your genre of choice or be brave and try something new."
I am going to aim for 15 new authors but will hopefully manage more. There will be some overlap from my other challenges with some of my list.
1) The Lost Art of Keeping Secrets by Eva Rice
2) The Outcast by Sadie Jones
3) Birdsong by Sebastian Faulks
4) The Children's Book by A.S. Byatt
5) A Widow for One Year by John Irving
6) The Last Town on Earth by Thomas Mullen
7) Assassin's Apprentice by Robin Hobb
8) The Various by Steve Augarde
9) The Interpretation of Murder by Jed Rubenfeld
10) The Elegance of the Hedgehog by Muriel Barbery
The Book Junkie's Bookshelf is hosting this challenge and it seems a great way to use the library more instead of just relying on buying or mooching the books I want to read.
