Sumptuous Sunday is a strange one this week. Doorways- perhaps not the first thing that springs to mind when thinking of sumptuous items. But for me it is 'the hidden' that is the great part. What will be revealed when you go through the door? I think it is the book lover and writer in me that dreams up all these wonderful and enchanting alternatives on the other side of the door.

Extra Thoughts
The idea of doorways can be used in both scrapbooking and journaling. I find that I take a lot of pictures of doorways when I am out and about because a quick glance at the picture gives me a reminder of how I felt walking through the door. Was I excited? Is it somewhere I had been before? Did I know what to expect? But maybe that is just me!
When journaling the idea of a doorway can be used for decision making. I am obviously a visual person because I like to think about the different routes available to me if I go through the different doors. When I was job hunting earlier in the year my journal really helped me work out the different routes available to me and I am glad to say I walked through the right door and ended up in a school I love in a setting I love. Now I am considering some further changes and additions to my career and my journal is helping me realise I am clinging to the edges, afraid of going through!
And finally part of the prompt from True Stories yesterday was to use a thesaurus on journaled words as an exercise to improve your journaling. Now I have used the word 'doorway' a lot in this post so I thought it would be apt to post a lovely list of alternatives I could use!
So thank you thesaurus.com!
access, approach, archway, avenue, corridor, entry, entryway, gate, gateway, hall, ingress, inlet, lobby, opening, passage, passageway, path, porch, port, portal, portico, staircase, threshold, vestibule, way.
Thank you for reading my ramblings today.

Kelly,
I just loved this post about doorways and the mystery behind them and the feeling we get when we enter a new place or a place we've been to and love. The photos are beautiful and intriguing at the same time.
I love the use of image for a doorway in conjunction with journaling, and how you apply it personally in your life.
I have chosen your post, Sumptuous Sunday, for #JournalChat Pick of the Day for 11/8/10. I will post it on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and my blog Refresh with Dawn Herring in the box for Pick of the Day in the right hand column.

Ooh, congrats on your recognition! :-)
I think my favourite synonym of doorway is 'portal' - love the portent of that word! xx
